ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Tina Rix, MS, LMFT-S
Psychotherapist, Film Director, Film Producer, Key Note Speaker, Storyteller, Musician
I am a licensed psychotherapist and multi-city group mental health practice owner. The clinics are deep-rooted- trauma focused, at Better Path Family Counseling and Consulting, PLLC. I am also a recording artist, with my full-length album, titled, No Looking Back, releasing 6/15/2022. I was inspired to create the Music and Mental Docuseries project after too many years of neglecting my creative and musically inclined side, which I realized was not healthy. Goal: Destigmatize &introduce mental health people worldwide while letting them know that they deserve to share their stories and heal.
It was the end of 2019 when I decided to focus on feeling alive and happy again. I realized that there was no reason I could not merge the 2 worlds that I operate in and love together. It was then that Music and Mental Health was birthed. I decided to not focus on myself for this project. The community needed to help me with this one. I wanted to tell the story of the importance of owning your story and stomping out the stigma that surrounds mental health through the lives of artists and musicians in the very creatively free city of Austin, TX, where I have resided full time for the past 4+ years.

I have been blessed to have my mental health company Better Path Family Counseling and Consulting, PLLC to be able to donate funds to the film company and the 9-part docuseries. The mental health company has offices in Houston, San Antonio, and our headquarters is located at 100 Congress Avenue of Austin, TX.
The music and mental health documentary-style 9-part docuseries main goal is to feature music and artists you may or may not have heard of before because they are mostly independent, including myself, to normalized discussing mental health topics, bring awareness to the importance of mental health, and utilize music and musicians as a vehicle to help get the message out about the importance of sharing your story and stomping out the stigma around mental health.
We filmed right up until the world shut down due to COVID 19, It is amazing how timely and even more relevant this film project is now due to the mental ad emotional state of people in the US and all over the world.
